Clindamycin ABR 600 mg capsules, hard

Clindamycin ABR hard capsules is a generic medicinal product, manufactured by Balkanpharma-Razgrad AD, which contains the active substance clindamycin (as clindamycin hydrochloride).
Clindamycin belongs to lincosamide antibiotics, a subclass of the large group of macrolides, lincosamides and streptogramins. It is one of the widely used antibiotics in the world and is a lincomycin derivative, which differs chemically from lincomycin by 7(S)-chloro-substitution of the 7(R)-hydroxyl group in the molecule of lincomycin.
Clindamycin has a broad antibacterial spectrum and high activity against certain protozoa, such as Plasmodium falciparum. It is used for the treatment of various bacterial infections, especially these of the respiratory system, abdominal organs, bones and joints, skin and subcutaneous tissues, caused by anaerobic pathogens. It is also effective in infections of dental and paradental tissues and some specific infectious diseases, such as malaria, toxoplasmic encephalitis, etc.

Nature and contents of container: The product is supplied in the following packs:
Clindamycin ABR 600 mg capsules, hard
Hard gelatin capsules with white body and white cap.
6 (six) hard gelatin capsules per PVC/AL foil blister.
2 (two) or 5 (five) blisters with a leaflet/information for the patient per carton.

Therapeutic indications:
It is used for both adults and children in the treatment of infections caused by bacteria sensitive to clindamycin and other microorganisms, such as:
•    respiratory tract infections (inflammation of the tonsils, throat, ear, bronchi, pneumonia)
•    infections of skin and soft tissues (acne, infected wounds, abscesses, inflammation of the hair follicles)
•    infections of bones and joints
•    infections of the genital and abdominal organs, including inflammation of the cervix caused by a microorganism called Chlamydia
•    infections of the teeth and dental tissues
•    certain specific infections in patients with AIDS
•    scarlet fever ( a type of measles, characterised by fever, typical rash and inflammation of tonsils)
